WHAT'S NEW

1. CASA have recently issued AD/PHZL/91. This Airworthiness Directive applies the right hand side (Left hand rotating) propeller fitted to the PA 34-200 seneca, PA 44-180 Seminule and the B76 Duchess. This inspection is similar to that required by AD/PHZL/86 but addresses inspection of the lubrication fitting only and is to be carried out at 50 hour intervals. The eddy current inspection of the hub fillet radius on all 2 blade O,IO, LO, AEIO-360 series is still a mandatory requirement at 100 hour intervals. An A or B supply hub negates all inspection requirements per these 2 AD'S.

2. The mandatory requirement to carry out the shot peening of the pitch change knob has been out now for a couple of years. East Coast Propellers was one of the first workshops in Australia to be approved for this procedure.

3. Mounting Bolt Torque - always asked. McCauley Propellers have changed their requirement for torquing the propeller attach nuts. Check the side of the hub for an installation decal or refer to Service Bulletin 227B for the correct torque. Please do not rely on the calibrated elbow. Use the correct torque wrench.

4. Hartzell now contain all their installations instructions etc. in their propeller owners manuals. These manuals contain a wealth of information from operation, trouble shooting and maintenance practices. Their manuals are available free of charge and can be downloaded straight from the hartzell website. We do carry a limited number of hard copy manuals which we will gladly send to you free of charge.
